Canon sent us its Powershot A1100 IS for a test. I gave it a thorough examination to see if it stood out from the crowd.
Verdict: 6 out of 10.

Citrix held their annual iForum event in Edinburgh this week. The infrastructure software firm told Villa81 that it believes smartphones will take dominant positions in the mobile phone and laptop markets within the year.
The iForum is moving from Edinburgh next year to a new venue in Berlin.

Dr Cormac Ó Raifeartaigh gave a talk on the Big Bang at the Science Gallery in Dublin on Wednesday. The event was organised by the Alchemist Café, a group which organises monthly public talks on science and technology.

The finalists for the €10,000 iQ Prize were announced in Dublin on Wednesday. The contest is being run by web development firm iQ Content with the aim of encouraging Irish people to create business ideas for the web.
The winners will be announced on 8 July.

LG has launched its new touch screen model. I tested a pink version of the Cookie, or KP500 as its also known
Verdict: 4/10. The bells and whistles are nice but it fails in some fundamental areas.
The LG Cookie is available now from €129 on the Meteor, O2, and Carphone Warehouse networks.
